The trail from Lukla to Chutanga on the first day is moderate, but the second day of the trek is straightforward, climbing up to 4600m, Zhatra La pass and will sleep at Chatrabuk, which is 4200m. during 3 days of trek, you will cross 4600m which is very helpful for best acclimatization as you are sleeping in Low altitude of 3580 Kothey one night and 4280m Thaknak two nights. thats why for this Helicopter return mera peak expedition, the trekking route from Lukla- Chutanga- Chatra la pass- Chatrabuk- Kothey is best option than another route.

Proper & Adequate Acclimatization for successful Mera peak summit

The trail from Kothey to Khare is much better than the first 3 days, which does not involve too many ups and downs. To prevent any sort of AMS, we spent two nights at Thaknag and two nights at Khare for better acclimatization. During the acclimatization day, you will hike to the hills for 3-4 hours to cover the altitude formula of "Go higher, sleep lower". KHARE is the last lodges place in the Mera peak region, from Kahre we hike to High camp( 5800m) of Mera peak, which is normally 5-7 hours of walking in your climbing boots of normal hiking boots.

From high camp, depending on the weather and walking situation of climbers, climbing sherpa can starts climbing around 2 am or 3 am. we reach the summit of Mera peak around sunrise time between 6-7 am. after all gorgeous photographs, we decend down to High camp for Lunch and walk down to Khare today, it is one of the hardest tiring day but one of the best day too as you summit the mera peak 6476m. you will spend a night at Khare or if you arrive Khare by early afternoon, same day can fly by Helicopter to Lukla.
